A breast reduction is a surgical procedure where the volume of the breast is reduced. To give the breast an aesthetically form, the breast areola should also be moved up and the excess skin must be removed.

On the day of the procedure and before you are anaesthetised, the surgeon draws the symmetrical pattern to be cut on each breast. During the procedure, the areola is placed higher up, excess skin with fat tissue and gland tissue is removed and the gland is moulded into the desired shape, so that the whole area is lifted.
Often the extra fat in the breast and spreading towards the armpits is removed using liposuction.
